Company AgroVi has developed a two-component ethylmethacrylate-based bioinert hoof glue BONDAVI used for gluing cracks in hooves and correction of other orthopedic diseases of horses and cattle. The setting time equals 6 minutes. Its structure enables it to diffuse through the upper keratic layer of the hoof at the moment of setting what ensures a better adhesion and strength. Prior to application of the glue, a crack shall be stripped, dead shell of the hoof shall be removed, and then gluing can be performed. This method may be used in combination with other orthopedic methods of treatment such as horseshoeing, bracing with shoe nails or metal plates etc.

As far as it concern the diary farming, one of fundamental reasons for reduction in milk production is occurrence of diseases of the distal segment of extremities.

Diseases of hooves significantly contribute to increasing in expenditures and decreasing in milk production: milk production of cows suffering extremities diseases is reported to get reduced up to 14% while the production indicators get decreased up to 16%. Economic damage is comprised of production losses, early culling of animals, reduction in breeding value of animals. According to results of cattle population checkup conducted in 2018 in all type of farms in Belgorod region, hooves diseases count 40% of all revealed diseases.

To sort out the problem of diseases of the distal segment of extremities of cattle, company AgroVi has developed a complex solution assuming application of beech onlays to be put on healthy hooves to unload ill ones. The onlays shall be attached to hooves by means of a deliberately developed two-component re-mineralizing ethylmethacrylate-based hoof glue. This glue requires no special conditions of storage and inventory since unlike with import ethyl-methacrylate-based glues, it is not a precursor of narcotic drugs. The glue allows attaching orthopedic wooden, polymeric onlays for cows, performing the repair in case of cracks and chipping of hooves, and the glue can also be used for prevention of hooves injuries after their cleaning.

As far as it concerns the hose orthopedics, the bioinert hoof glue is used for gluing hoof cracks, attaching horseshoes of various modifications and purposes. Many orthopedic pathologies make unfeasible conventional horseshoeing by means of nails what gives rise to demand for our glue in orthopedic products market.

Cracks disturb the keratic shell integrity along keratic tubes. The main reasons for the occurrence are as follows: a disproportional load on the hoof, wrong horseshoeing, untimely cleaning, a long toe, stiff soil, genetic factors as well as livery and feeding conditions affecting growth and quality of the hoof. A delay in treatment of animals leads to their performance capability reduction, their sport quality and results degradation, and to lameness. Whereas usage of nail-free horseshoeing prevents injuries and destruction of hoof wall what is especially vital for horses suffering hoof-related diseases.

Application of the bioinert hoof glue is reported to have demonstrated a high effectiveness of treatment and prevention of orthopedic diseases.


The glue for hooves is intended for gluing orthopedic wooden or polymer overlays for both cattle and small cattle, for “repairing” the hooves of cattle, small cattle, for repairing hooves and sticking horseshoes to horses and other ungulates. This glue can be used to seal the cut horns.


Glue for hooves is produced in the form of two components - a powder containing polyethers of methacrylic acid and a catalyst for the polymerization reaction of benzoyl peroxide, and a liquid containing Methyl methacrylate monomer and/or Ethyl methacrylate monomer, the mixing of which forms a polymer that hardens without heating.

Methyl methacrylate is a precursor that requires special conditions of storage, accounting and reporting to national security, defence and law enforcement agencies.

If the glue is made on the basis of ethyl methacrylate, then special conditions of storage, accounting and reporting to national security, defence and law enforcement agencies are not required, since ethyl methacrylate is not a precursor.


ATTENTION: Material stored or transported at low temperatures must be kept at room temperature for at least 1 hour before use.

Application life of the mixed compound is 6-8 minutes.

In 1 minute, the glue becomes thicker and acquires an adhesive ability.

After 3 minutes from the start of mixing, the "adhesive" ability disappears.

After 4-5 minutes, the mass hardens with the release of heat (60-70ºС).

Final hardening takes place at the 6th minute. The material demonstrates the above properties at temperature of 23.0 ºС.

The liquid is placed in a vial with powder in the amount of 25.0 g Mix thoroughly. The vial is covered with a lid and left to swell, stirring the mass once every 30 seconds. The mass is considered ready for use when it acquires an adhesive ability. The ripening time of the compound is approximately 1-2 minutes depending on the ambient temperature.

Silicon compounds contribute to the biosynthesis of collagen, maintaining balance with calcium in the structures of the animal bodies.

Addition of silicon oxide to the glue for hooves, having low hygroscopic property, provides for good moisture resistance, strengthens the quality of the connective tissue structures of the hoof and indirectly acts as the anti-inflammatory product, since silicon compounds are resistant to solar radiation, ozone, as well as to biological damaging factors.


It has good anti-inflammatory properties, especially for various lesions of the skin structures. The hoof is also a derivative of the skin and the addition of zinc oxide to the adhesive mass eliminates the risk of inflammatory processes when using glue.

Since zinc oxide has a prominent effect to attract water, its use in the composition of the glue provides the product not only with disinfecting, but also with drying, binding and adsorbing property.


Copper sulfate has a broad antimicrobial effect. Until now, the treatment of hooves of high-producing cows with copper sulfate solution is the most common and effective way to prevent and treat various diseases of the claw horns of dairy cows.

Adding of copper sulfate to the composition of the glue bioinert mass enables for mediated prevention of infectious diseases of the hoof wall.


The hoof wall is 95% composed of keratin, that is a strong, insoluble and colorless protein rich in sulfur-derived methionine (amino acid). Keratin production also requires significant amounts of zinc and biotin.

Sulfur is a critical nutrient for strengthening amino acids (protein particles), which serve as the main building blocks in collagen and the formation of a strong hoof wall.

Hoofed wall fibers are very compact and dense. It is the sulfur molecules that create the very strong bonds that hold the fibers together. Adding of sulfur to the composition of the glue bioinert mass enables to indirectly strengthen the hoof wall.


In cows, we often encounter such a disease like cow wolfartiosis (Wolfahrtiosis) that iss an invasive animal disease caused by parasitizing of Wohlfahrtia magnifica fly larvae of the Sarcophagidae family in wounds, especially in the limbs. 

Boric acid is one of the few antiseptics that has an action against ectoparasites, therefore the addition of boric acid to the glue bioinert mass, characterized by a disinfectant and antiparasitic effect, makes it possible to prevent the development of exoparasites, including wolfartiosis.


Calcium hydroxide is widely used in medicine, especially in dentistry and orthopedics. Calcium hydroxide, reacting with saline, has an antibacterial effect due to the reaction of release of hydroxyl ions, which destroy the membranes and DNA bonds of microorganisms.
Using the inclusion of calcium hydroxide in the bioinert glue composition, it is possible to prevent the development of deep lesions in the tissues of the hoof and sole.
